The Academy revealed its selections for the 98th Academy Awards this evening through presenters Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman. Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” and Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” emerged with the most nominations, establishing them as this year’s Oscar favorites.
Anderson’s latest directorial effort earned recognition across major categories, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. Performance nominations for Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn, and Teyana Taylor highlight the film’s ensemble strength. Technical categories also acknowledged its achievements.
“Sinners” proved equally deserving with nominations spanning creative and technical categories. Coogler’s direction earned recognition alongside the film’s visual achievements in cinematography and production design. Strong performances from Michael B. Jordan, Delroy Lindo, and Wunmi Mosaku also secured nominations.
Beyond these frontrunners, other films earned their moment in the spotlight. “Marty Supreme,” “Hamnet,” and “Sentimental Value” each secured multiple nominations, while documentaries and animated features added variety to the competition. Unfortunately, Neeraj Ghaywan’s “Homebound” received zero nominations.
The 98th Academy Awards take place on March 15 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The ceremony will air at 7 p.m. ET on ABC, where the year’s finest cinematic achievements will receive recognition.
