Zelensky’s Vision for Peace Hinges on US Action, Cites Trump’s Gaza Triumph

President Volodymyr Zelensky has articulated a clear vision for ending the war in Ukraine, and it hinges directly on proactive leadership from the United States. He is using President Donald Trump’s recent diplomatic triumph in Gaza as the primary exhibit in his case for renewed American intervention in Europe.
“The war in Europe can also be brought to an end, and for that, the leadership of both the United States and other partners is of utmost importance,” Zelensky stated, placing the US at the center of any potential solution. He went further, suggesting a plan is ready: “We have a corresponding vision for this.”
Zelensky’s confidence stems from what he calls Trump’s “success” in the Middle East. After congratulating the US President, he has repeatedly argued that the Gaza deal creates a “momentum for peace” that must be applied to the Ukrainian conflict. He believes the same decisive actions can yield similar results.
To build support for this vision, Zelensky is engaging in robust diplomacy. An hour-long call with Finnish President Alex Stubb was used to align their strategies, ensuring that the call for US leadership is echoed by European partners.
This diplomatic vision is presented as the only alternative to continued bloodshed. Zelensky continues to report on Russian atrocities, such as the bombing of a Kharkiv hospital. This grim reality serves to underscore his core message: peace is possible, a vision for it exists, but it requires the immediate combination of US leadership and the military hardware to enforce it.
