Cambodia and Cuba have formalized their efforts to enhance collaboration in the tourism sector by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement was signed by Cambodian Tourism Minister Huot Hak and Cuba’s Ambassador to Cambodia, Milena Caridad Zaldívar Piedra, in the Siem Reap province.
The MoU sets a framework for cooperation between the tourism authorities of both nations. It aims to foster tourism development, facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences, and extend Cambodia’s tourism presence into Latin American markets. Both countries have expressed that the agreement is grounded in the principles of equality and mutual benefit, anticipating that it will create new opportunities for tourism collaboration between Cambodia and Cuba.
The historical context of this agreement is rooted in the longstanding diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Cuba, which were established in 1960. Over the years, the two countries have maintained strong bilateral ties, and this MoU seeks to further solidify their partnership, particularly in the area of tourism.
